Another baby boy!!!

The newest grandchild for Curtis's parents has entered the world. Nathaniel James Koshay was born at 7:40 this morning and was 7 lbs 4 oz and 19 inches long. That makes number 5 with 4 boys and one girl. Savanah will need to hold her own!!!

It hurts me more...

Eli had his two month appointment and that meant shots. He was so happy and being so good for the doctor (unlike last month when he screamed to the point of no sound). Then the nurse with the needles came in. The first one brought a look of what was that and then the red face and the crying started to happen. I knew he needed the shots but it is hard to see your child in pain. Especially when he can't tell you it hurts after the fact. I did feel much better when I scooped him up and he calmed down fairly quickly, making the hurt stop always feels good. Our little baby boy is getting big. He is 23 inches long and weighs 11lbs 12 ounces. He has an appetite to show it too. We know it when you take that bottle away to burp, he is not a happy camper. So we are all doing well and a week and a half until back to work!!! TOOOO SOOOOON

Two Months!

He is 2 months old now!!! This is my best shot at getting a good smile picture. He is quite a smiley guy when in a good mood. He gave me a present and slept from 9 to 6:30 last night!!! He is getting bigger everyday and starting to tell us all about it!

Daycare !!!!!????

One night while I was up feeding Eli I had the realization that I was going to have to go back to work and getting to spend the whole day with my son would come to an end. That thought scared me to death! How was I going to leave this little person who I could not be without in someone else's care. I had visted a daycare center and the thought of leaving him there was not sitting well with me. I don't think I could have brought myself to it. Luckily I have found a wonderful woman who watched kids out of her home. The most kids she would have is 6 and that is only for about an hour overlap at most. Eli is the youngest with the next one being almost one. The other kids were happy and had smiles on their faces as soon as I walked in the door. I have visted twice now and each time I am more reassured that he will be taken care of just as I would take care of him. It is a load of my shoulders that my little man will be safe and happy while we are away counting the minutes until we get to see him again.

Milk anyone?

If you ever want to feel like you are being milked use one of these! This was part of my ritual everyday, 3-4 times per day for 6 weeks. It is an odd ecperience. I will say it is excellent for those moms that nursing just doesn't work out for. I was still able to give Eli breast milk without the painful moments of him latching on. It is a nice little device and I am glad it was invented. (I still felt a little like I was being milked like a cow though!)

One month old

Can you believe it! Eli is 5 weeks old now. These pictures are from 4 weeks old. He is doing well, and so are we. We have adjusted to having a little one in the house. It is amazing how one little person changes your whole life and household. Sorry I haven't posted in awhile. It is hard to find time to sit down and write!! He is holding that little head up almost by himself for short periods of time and everynow and then we see a smile! He looks all around and tells the best stories when he is in a good mood! He still has those bad moments though!!

Eli's first ride!

The Jeans are buttoned!

Well I know that is not exciting to anyone else, but today i was able to button up my favorite jeans!!! Eli is doing good. The jaundice that he developed is about almost all cleared up. He had to lay on the biliblanket a few days. We claaed him our little glow worm! He kkeps me busy and when daddy gets home he keeps us both busy. The dogs do really great with him, which we are thrilled about! here aresome pictures of the little guy enjoy!

8 pounds of eating, sleeping, and pooping!

Here he is! I thought this was a good picture because he has his eyes open. He was 8lbs even 20 inches long and was born at 5:49 pm on 2/23/07. He is keeping us on our toes and needless to say that everything revolves around him now. The dogs are doing great with him. They are listening really well. We all are doing well. I will have some more pictures posted soon. Happy Birthday Eli Joseph Furtah!!!

Imagine an alien

So today I had yet another doctor's appointment. This one I had to wait especially long because my doctor had procedures in the morning that he did and then his nurse said that seemed like everyone today had a problem that had to be dealt with. So luckily I had my mom to talk to while we waited for and hour and a half just to be seen. I am so happy that I should only have one more appointment next week and then some magic should happen. If I am lucky it will happen before then.

I am now 38 weeks and 30 pounds heavier. I keep walking around and trying to get up and down. So as the title states "imagine and alien." That is what this child feels like. Think of the scene from alien where you can see the alien moving in the girl and that is exactly what it looks like. I am the lucky one who gets to feel what it looks like. the past week has been full of rib kicks and my belly jiggling like a bowl full of jelly (I feel like Santa Clause!)

I may be a wimp but I am really not looking to go past my due date. So we dicided to stick it out one more week and if nothing happens by then we will pick a date. I am definetly ready to stop having this little one kick me and start haolding he or she!! I will have a picture soon, had to recharge the camera battery....

The Real Housewives

I have become one of those people who watch tv in the middle of the night now. Last night as I lay in bed wide awake, I thought I wonder what is on TV. I found a marathon of The Real Housewives of Orange County. I have sporadically watched this show but last night I could have watched for hours. I don't know what it is about reality television but it is addicting. I highly recommend this show to anyone who can not sleep at 3 in the morning. It is quite entertaining.

On to what everyone wants to know about. The countdown in about 3 weeks now. Last appointment I was up to gaining about 30 pounds. This 30 pounds is sticking straight out in front too, so getting up and down is becoming a challenge! The baby is head down and estimated to be about 6 pounds and 12 oz by ultrasound. It also predicted the due date to be a week earlier, which was fine by me!!! We have finished getting, well as of right now, the gear. The usual items, car seat, pack and play, bouncy chair, blankets, burp blankets, booties, clothes, diapers, wipes, and the list goes on and on. Our living room is overtaken right now! So i am still hanging in there and getting around the best that I can. I am definetly ready for this little one to enter the world, that is for sure!!!!!

Oh the pounds!!

So another month another 2 pounds. This is the day after christmas so I was 32 weeks pregnant, I think anyway. Still feeling good, but a little frustrated with wearing the same clothes over and over again.....

Hence this picture taken today two weeks later. I have the same outfit on!! Who would have thought!!! I am now 34 or 35 (as my doctor seems to think) pregnant. I will take the 35 weeks though!! That means I am even closer to getting this little person into the world. I had gained another 2 pounds here so up to 144 now. I feel like I have a bowling ball hanging of my front every now and then. I am trugging along though. Thank God that I get to sit a lot at work. I don't know how anyone would stand on their feet all day and be this far along... maybe I am just lazy.

I am starting to be so lucky that I now get to sit in the docotors office once a week now. I go again on Tuesday. The past appointment was not the exciting. The usual, weight, blood pressure, pee check, and heartbeat. He did feel to check if the head was facing down. That baby is getting ready to slide on out (I wish it were so easy!) I am now getting the nursery organized with all of the great presents we got on Saturday. Another shower on the 21st will I am sure bring just as much great stuff. It is amazing how one little person can need so many things. Well maybe not need it all but it makes our lives easier. I will keep waddling along for now!!!

Oh the relief!!!!

The whole experience of being pregnant has brought many new challenges to my life. The most annoying was not being able to sleep though the night because my nose would stuff up. This would lead to me not being able to breath through my nose and my mouth would dry up. I would try many positions to sleep and would end up tossing and turning. I even resorted to basically sleeping upright in bed. I would prop myself up with many pillows and Curtis would just look at me like I was crazy. It helped slightly but still I wasn't sleeping very well.

Then I tried the best invention in the universe. Breathe Right Nasal strips. These little pieces of sticky plastic are a God send. I slap one on every night before going to bed and I sleep with no problems or stuffy noses. I do take the ocassional teasing from my wonderful husband. He like to label me as a dork with my glasses and nasal strips. He married me though so he must not care that much!!!!! I would recommend these little miracles to anyone who has trouble sleeping at night due to a stuffed up nose!!!

Four more pounds...

So if anyone is keeping count I am up to 140 pounds. I have gained a total of 22 pounds. I am now at 28 weeks and counting. The baby has a strong heartbeat (160) and strong feet. I find enjoyment in playing with the little feet that push against me. I can feel it push and if I push back I can usually get a good kick out of her or him. The strangest phenomenom as of yet is getting up in the morning and having one side of my abdomen stick out a lot farther then the other. Normally one's stomach is symmetrical and every so often mine is defineltly odd shaped. I just push a little and the little one finds a much more comfortable position for me. I am not sure if you can tell from the picture but my belly button is slowly becoming an outtie. Curtis calls it the timer and when it pops it is done.



The most exciting moment of my apppointment was getting a Rhogam shot (NOT!!!) It freaking hurt!!!!!! Imagine getting a shot, okay not that bad, then feeling like something is burning inside your muscle. It is not fun and it is not a little amount of liquid. The shot is given just above the butt cheek in the muscle. I was not thrilled to say the least. I blame it on Curtis for being blood type O positive, I am B negative. So in the event that my blood and the babies blood mix during birth my body would make antibodies against a positive baby. Then with subsequent children if they were to be positive my body would attack it and eventually the baby would die. So I will suffer a shot (two total, one more to get) to prevent that from happening. In the meantime I will get sympathy points from Curtis!!!!

The baby is roughly just over 2 pounds and can open and close its little eyes and respond to noises and light. Hopefully it will be used to the dogs barking because I'm sure they aren't going to stop doing that anytime soon!! So that is the latest on my growing waistline. Only 12 more weeks to go!!

Here is our second christmas tree. I tried to take a picture without the flash because it is prettier, but it didn't look right! So far the dogs have left the tree skirt and the ornaments alone. Last year it was a constant battle to keep them out of the ornaments and to leave the tree skirt alone. C is working away at the outside lights and I will post a picture of his creation when he is finished. Merry Christmas everyone!!!

Congratulations to Carrie and Jim on the new addition to their family. Savannah was born yesterday and she is a little cutie.

It is interesting the new view you have on babies when you are going to have one yourself. She was 8 pounds 6 oz and all I could see was a big baby. Oh the thoughts!!!!!
